Here’s what you can expect
Usually, only two appointments are needed to complete the assessment.
First appointment
Initially, we review the activities of the day. Then I meet with significant others, most often the parents in the case of a child, to learn details about current concerns and the person’s history. In the morning while I am interviewing the parents and during the afternoon session my assistant administers all or most of the tests.
At intervals during the day, I talk informally with the individual being tested, often first thing in the morning, at times during the day, and at the end of the day. Most often, we complete the testing in one day, but we will schedule another appointment to finish if needed.
Second appointment
A feedback session is done two to three weeks after the testing is finished to go over the results of the assessment, their implications, and my recommendations. This is an interactive session, providing individuals with the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification of results, discuss recommendations, and decide next steps.
